Ethics Olympiad Hosting Platform · Last updated 29 July 2026

Who we are

This platform is operated by Ethics Olympiad Pty. Ltd. (ABN 52 606 554 367, ACN 606 554 367), an Australian private company based in South Australia (“Ethics Olympiad”, “we”, “us”). It provides licensed schools (“hosts”) with the tools to run Ethics Olympiad events. We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

From host schools:the school’s name, a nominated contact person’s name and email address, a login username, and the account password we assign. We also keep operational records of the school’s use of the platform (events created, licensing changes, and administrative actions we perform on the account).

From judges: the name a judge types when joining an event. That name is attached to the scores they submit and is visible to the host school running the event and to us. Judges do not create accounts, and we collect no other information about them.

About students: nothing. The platform has no student accounts, no student logins, and no fields for student information. Teams are identified by team names chosen by the host school; we ask hosts not to use students’ full names as team names.

Automatically: our hosting providers keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses and request times) for security and reliability. We do not use analytics trackers or advertising technologies on the platform.

How we use information

Solely to provide and support the platform: operating events and scoring, administering licenses and accounts, providing support when a host contacts us, and communicating with hosts about their license. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie that keeps hosts and administrators signed in, and a signed session cookie that lets a judge return to their event without an account. There are no tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.

Where information is stored

Platform data is stored with Supabase on infrastructure located in Sydney, Australia. The application is delivered by Vercel, whose global network may process technical request data outside Australia in the course of serving pages. Both providers maintain their own security and privacy programs.

Disclosure

We disclose personal information only to the service providers above (as needed to run the platform), within an event (a judge’s name appears alongside their scores to the host school), or where the law requires it. If a sponsor is displayed on the platform, the sponsor receives no personal information from us.

Retention and deletion

We keep host and event information while the school’s license relationship continues, including between license periods so that a renewing school’s setup is preserved. A school may ask us to delete its account data at any time by contacting us; we will delete it unless we are required to keep specific records.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Every school’s data is isolated from every other school’s at the database level. Administrative access is limited to Ethics Olympiad staff, and administrative actions on school accounts are logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we design conservatively and limit what we collect in the first place.

Access and correction

Hosts can view and update most of their own information on the platform. For anything else — access, correction, deletion, or a privacy question or complaint — contact us at privacy@ethicsolympiad.app. We will respond within a reasonable period. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes to this statement

We may update this statement as the platform evolves. The date above reflects the latest revision; material changes will be flagged to host schools.
